zur Geschichte

Danke nochmal für das Ünersetzten dieser tollen Story und ich muss einfach nochmal betonen, dass du so tolle Worte zur Übersetzung gefunden hast und die ganze Liebe die du da rein steckt habe ich bei jeder Sekunde des Lesens bemerkt. Danke dafür!
Irgendwie bin ich schon ein bisschen traurig das diese tolle Story geendet ist und ich auf keine neuen Übersetzungen mehr von dir freuen kann, weil sie mir echt ans Herz gehen. Doch trotzdem finde ich, dass dir gerade das Ende toll gelungen ist und du so schnell alles so wunderbar übersetzt hast. (Ich hoffe ich spreche hierbei nicht nur von mir sondern auch von allen anderen Lesern).
Und vielleicht hast du ja Lust mal wieder eine tolle englische Story zuübersetzten. Ich würde sie dann aufjedenfall lesen!

Wahnsinn - was soll ich sagen ... VIELEN DANK für deine herzliche Rückmeldung und ich freue mich gerade so sehr, dass ich dir mit dieser Übersetzung eine Freude machen konnte und es dir gefallen hat, diese Geschichte auf deutsch zu lesen. Das ist mehr als ich mir wünschen kann. Dein Lob ist wirklich sehr lieb und es ist eine wunderbare Belohnung für die investierte Zeit. DANKE! Ich freue mich, dass du offenbar "herausgelesen" hast, dass doch einiges Herzblut hier in diese Übersetzung mit reingeflossen ist - insbesondere die Passagen mit der gesamten Chaotentruppe rund um Tanya und Rosie (bspw in Las Vegas oder als sie sich alle zusammen während des Sintflut-Regens in Fernandos Haus flüchten), oder wenn sich Fernando und Ruby dann auch mal nicht ganz so einig waren - das hat mir wirklich Spaß gemacht zu übersetzen. Die Autorin hatte da wirklich bei all dem herrlichen Kitsch, der nunmal zu MammaMia mit dazugehört und das Ganze so schön fluffig macht, eben auch einen feinen Humor für bestimmte Situationen, wie ich finde.
Kurz: Tausend Dank, dass du hier mitgelesen und mir so schöne Worte dagelassen hast.

Also ich finde du hast die Geschichte so toll übersetzt und unser aller Lob dafür verdient. Deswegen wollte ich dich fragen ob du vielleicht auch noch den letzten und 3 Teil von From Afar posten würdest, weil ich mich echt frage wie es weitergeht und auch gesehen habe das es ihn schon in Englisch gibt und es das Ende der Geschichte bildet.
Vielen Dank aufjedenfall aber erstmal für die Mühe das hier alles für uns Leser zu überstzen und ich wünschte der 3 Film, weil ja sehr wahrscheinlich einer kommt, würde so aussehen.

Hallo Esther,

tausend Dank für deine netten Worte und deine Zeit (sowohl für das Lesen als auch für dein Feedback), das hat mich ja jetzt aus dieser Richtung völlig unvermittelt erwischt.
Mensch, da sagst du ja was: Ich hab das letzte Mal vor etwa einem halbem Jahr mal nachgeschaut in der englischen Original-Geschichte was den Fortlauf dort angeht, und hab offenbar völlig übersehen, dass die Geschichte mit From Afar und einem Schlusswort der Autorin nun auch beendet worden ist. Dann setze ich mich mal ran an diesen letzten Teil des Kapitels. Hoffentlich komme ich in diesen Schreibstil der Autorin auch wieder gut rein - meine Güte, ist das lange her. Aber du hast mit deiner Rückmeldung völlig Recht: Diese Geschichte verdient ein würdiges Ende. Möge es so fluffig und glitzernd wie möglich sein ;-)

Hahahaha yeah... switching back to English is definitely a good and convenient idea ;). And actually I forgot to ask you - have you seen Mamma Mia 2? Because you've mentioned that you wanted to see it. :) And why can't you believe that I read this (amazing!) story in 2 different languages :)?
Btw I'm really surprised that you want to practise your English because I was convinced all this time that both German and English are your native languages, especially that your translation is sooo professional :) So I don't know why but this thought just occured to me that you have to be native or at least profficient in English to understand and to "feel" the original version of the story in order to make it sound so natural in German... :) And yes - German is difficult a bit (I'm still struggling) - particularly grammar but I like it and when I have this lovely story at hand, I don't need anything else to learn it ;)

Hey Millie,

ouh, you are too kind to me - my English isn't as good as you suppose. Perhaps I can only manage to translate the written english words in my head to my own german words in a good way and just write it down - and when I succeed in hitting the core of this great story with it, this is fantastic and good to know. But if I have to write an english story by myself this would be a disaster ;-) I can't believe you are reading this story twice, because I think that German is a very difficult language for someone who has to learn it. So it is great to know that this translation helps you to improve it. Rather my astonishment is meant more "respecful" than "in disbelief".
Yeesss, I have finally seen "Mamma Mia 2" a few weeks ago in our cinema. I loved every minute of the whole movie - it was a great joy to watch it, the story was told with a lot of wit and charm. I was very amused. So far, the author of "In the Firelight" has kept this charm of the movie in a really good way ... :-) and it was funny to watch this movie with this wonderful "In the Firelight"-Background-Story in my head (when "nine months later" appeared I grinned happily, because I knew: oouuh, now Fernando and Ruby are (perhaps) already married). I was surprised how less screentime Fernando and Ruby got in the movie, I expected much more after reading this Fanfiction. To see Ruby in this movie was overwhelming, I immediately understand why she is called "Witch of the West", ha ha. And I think I would still dislike her, if there wouldn't be her relationship to Fernando - in contrast to Ruby I loved him right off. He is stunning. So the author of "In the Firelight" did a great job to describe Rubys change to a pleasant person.

Hallo, da bin ich wieder :)
Ich habe dir vielmals "gesagt", dass ich deine deutsche Version der Geschichte benutze, um mein Deutsch zu verbessern (und selbstverständlich um Spaß zu haben!). Dieses Mal habe ich mich entschieden, diesen Kommentar schließlich auf Deutsch zu schreiben. Und ich weiß nicht , wie ich dir für diese weitere wundervolle Übersetzung danken soll... Ich muss zugeben, dass ich heute rein zufällig den neuen Kapitel der amerikanischen Autorin bemerkt habe. Dann habe ich sofort "deine" Website besucht und... ich bin davon total beeindruckt, wie schnell und perfekt du das gemacht hast! :) Du bist wirklich außergewöhnlich, weil ich mir nur vorstellen kann, wie viel Zeit und Geduld solche Übersetzung erfordert. Ich bin dir sehr dankbar und ich freue mich auch, dass (wie du es geschrieben hast) die Autorin des Originals sich zurückgemeldet hat. Die Geschichte ist so spannend, dass ich ungeduldig auf den nächsten Kapitel warte. :)

thank you so much for your comment and your warmly words! :-) Your support and your loyalty give me so much motivation and joy. And you are right: to translate a text take time and patience (at least to me). I am very happy that this story is going on now and we will learn more about Ruby and Fernando (and maybe their past time) and all the other wonderful people and friends.
I still can't believe that you read this story in two different languages... And as you want to improve your German (which is really good by the way - I can imagine that german language is very difficult to learn) I want to improve my English, so I hope it is okay to answer you this way.

"Kapitel XV - Old and Grey"

Helo, it's me again. I hope you really don't mind that I leave so many comments but I really want to thank you once again for all your commitment and all efforts you put into translating this absolutely amazing story. I printed your perfect translation (slightly less than 100 pages):) made notes and highlighted all new expressions and words ("keep calm and enjoy learning" :D) and I'm sooooo grateful to you because I really feel that my German is much better now. And what's more important - I really did enjoy reading this fanfiction - it was more like pleasure and fun than kind of German lesson. I will definitely come back to your translation and reread many times as it's so exciting and riveting. It''s very sad indeed that for now it's unfortunately everything we have because the original author hasn't published anything new . I also hope that she's alright and nothing bad happened to her. But as you have written - life is not a bed of roses like in Mamma Mia and I am grateful to her anyway for sharing this lovely story with all of us even though it's not complete.
I will stay tuned when it comes to your translations and I 'm waiting for your another works maybe to some other stories if you find a bit of time and eagerness of course :)

I am speechless, I can't find words ... your comment has given me so much motivation and joy (if there would be a new chapter I would have started the translation of it yet ... but unfortunately we have to wait for an indefinite period). THANK YOU so much for your loyality and for sharing your enthusiasm with me. You have found indeed good words for describing your emotions about this story. I am so thankful for your support until now - and it is fantastic to hear that this translation has made it to improve your German in a good and funny way. That is more than I have ever expected when I started this translation (you have really printed this german version for reading? You are crazy ... ^^) And you are so right - this story is exciting, and as you I hope so much that the original author is alright and sometime we can read the end of this story. "Kapitel XII - Since Many Years"

Thank you one more time for this amazing translation :) My new "unusual" German course has been very intensive lately ;)and absolutely riveting and gripping at the same time. The original story is exquisite and you've been doing such a great job with capturing all these emotions, jokes and idioms in German :) Thank you very much once again. I have never written any fanfiction on my own (neither have I translated) but I can imagine how difficult and exhausting it is and how much time it takes up. But I'm really grateful for your work! :)

And it is facilitating to know that my translation capturing most of the emotions and jokes and idioms in a good way. THANK YOU for giving me such a wonderful feedback. You are right - it takes up time to translate a story like this; I have never done a translation before, so sometimes it is rather difficult (especially the idioms; and sometimes I have to add whole sentences for catchting the "joke" or the reactions ... therefore I am very glad to hear from you that my translation preserve the original "spirit" and it all makes sense), but on the other hand it is a great joy because I like the original story so much.

Ha ha ha! Yeah I am probably kinda crazy ;) I do really enjoy it though :) (I mean both English and German version) I find these 2 versions of fanfiction so riveting and breathtakingly good that learning German became really pleasant ;)
I know of course that it's not a literal translation but that's fine! It's perfect :)
Haha thank you for a wonderful incentive that really encourages more to carry on learning German. I watched Mamma Mia Here We Go Again almost 2 weeks ago and I fell in love with Ruby and Fernando. And this story is almost contagious that I'm really engrossed in it :). Perhaps the original author should send it to Cher ;) :)

thank you again for your support and your joy (and your craziness) ;-) it seems you have much energy and excitement to share ...
I still haven't seen the movie until now, but I am sure I have to catch up on watching it ... I love the songs they have used for the second one and which are shown during the credits - and I think it would be nice and funny to "know" much more about Ruby and Fernando while watching the movie because of these fanfiction story "In the Firelight" ;-)

Thank you very very much for translating this fanfiction :) I've read the original one (written by the "American Authorin" ;)) but because I've been learning German your work is extremely useful for me! Really? You read this story twice in two different languages? You are crazy ;-) ... I have never thought about the opportunity that somebody would read this translation because of improving language skills. Wonderful. I wish you all the best for learning German furthermore. But I can translate the original text only in an analogous way, not word by word - so sometimes I have to complement whole sentences for getting their meaning... in English many phrases sound good by their short variants, and often one word has so much different meanings, but in German I have to expand these phrases for getting their "effect", you know? I do my very best to preserve the "spirit" of the original text ;-)
To cut a long story short: Thank you so much for your support :-)
